The Seekers Trust - Best kept secret in UK

What are we all about?

The Seekers Trust was founded on the 12th May 1932 for promoting the well being of mankind by means of Christianity and in particular their spiritual, mental and physical regeneration and healing by Christian faith and Prayer and by direct treatment by laying on of hands.People turn to us whether troubled with health problems, relationship difficulties or spiritual crisis. When faced with unemployment, re-housing, or any other practical/material concern, rocking their life, they know we will take the matter seriously.

How?

Through prayer offered daily in our chapels.

Residents and friends of the Trust will get together throughout the year to uphold the requests made. A special way was set some 80 years ago whereby those asking for help also take an active part, but without having to come to Addington to do so.

Where are we?

At Addington, in the heart of Kent, within easy reach of London, as we are close to an extensive motorway network (M20, M2, M26, M25).

Why here?

Addington is the place where St Augustine, centuries ago, was riding through the woods from his monastery in Malling and declared: Here is where heaven and earth meet. Here I will form a school of prayer, a 'City of God'. Centuries later The Seekers then based in London were guided to Addington to found a City of Prayer. With restricted funds, their faith was tested to the limit before acquiring the estate of Addington. This alone makes interesting reading.

What do we offer?

The Seekers Trust

Within its almost 40 acres of grounds and woodlands, the Trust has various facilities, the main one being our group of small chapels used for daily prayers and for contact healing. Visitors are always welcome whether they wish to just absorb the healing atmosphere, walking in our grounds, or take a break in our self catering accommodation.

Like many charities, we rely heavily on donations but no one is refused healing help for financial reasons. If you can help us, in however modest a way, we would be most grateful. Don't forget to Gift Aid your donation if you are a tax payer.

Other facilities for holding small seminars/meditation classes or larger conferences/courses are available at very reasonable rates. Please ask for details.

There is no better place to hold a course than in our large hall overlooking trees and a large pond to sit by during a break. Even from our smaller hall, the only distraction is the view of the chapels and The Close.

Memorial Rose Garden

Seekers Trust Rose Garden

An important feature of The Seekers Trust is our Rose Garden laid out in a pattern representing the life of the soul on earth. In the centre is the Cross, the path of Life, and around it radiates the seven-pointed star, symbolising the spheres, of which the seventh is the Christ sphere. Eventually the soul reaches God represented by the large enclosing circle of roses. The colours also have their special significance: golden roses for the Cross; the points of the star ranging from red at their base to white at the points, and the circle is of richly scented deep roses.

Members may dedicate a rose to a departed loved one and are invited to our Rose Day held once a year in July. Details available on request.

Self catering accommodation

Seekers Trust Accomodation

Within The Close we have holiday accommodation open all year round for those wishing to have a break from the hurly burly of life. Terraced ground floor flats, some single and some for 2 people, all are fully furnished, centrally heated, with en suite bathroom and kitchen facilities to cater for your own needs and taste. Our guests are welcome to join in our activities or just enjoy the peaceful and healing atmosphere found at Addington. The rates are reasonable, to allow as many as possible to benefit from a stay at The Seekers. We are sorry but we have a 'No Pet' policy. Details available on request.

Residents

Only with the help and dedication of our residents can we carry on fulfilling our mission of healing and prayer. Many have joined us over the years, some for decades, others for a short period. The reasons for wanting to be part of The Seekers may be varied, but what each individual has to offer is valued. Some people may even develop new gifts while here. Each person keeps his/her independence, paying a fair rent for a one or two bedroom flat. If you are interested and would like to know more about the commitment of a resident, please get in touch by phone.
