Rose Garden
In the heart of our Centre, alongside the cloisters, is our Rose Garden fragrant with the scent of, among others, 'Peace', 'Blessings' & 'Royal William' roses. Not laid out in rows but, as you can see, in a special pattern representing the Life of the Soul on Earth.
In the centre is the Cross which stands for the path of Life; around the Cross radiates the seven-pointed Star, symbolising the Spheres, of which the seventh is the Christ Sphere. Eventually the soul reaches God represented by the large enclosing circle of roses. In each portion of this symbol, the colours too have their special significance. Golden roses for the Cross; the points of the Star range from red at their base to white at the points, and the Circle is of richly scented deep red roses.
Not only are they a pleasure to the eye, but these roses are dedicated by members to the memory of loved ones. Once a year, in July, we hold our Remberance Day which consists of a reading of the teachings of Dr. Lascelles regarding this special day. We then gather around the cross of roses for a prayer before going to our own trees. For a short time we can feel even closer to our loved ones who have passed from this world. This is a very special day bringing comfort and brotherhood to all, those on earth and those in spirit. We enjoy tea and cakes after the service giving all a chance to socialise and share memories.
Members can dedicate a rose tree for loved ones, please see our facilities page for more details.
